My role
After the success of our Summer Olympics campaign, Grubhub wanted to do it again for the Winter Games – and go even bigger.
We’re talking, bring a crew of 40 up a remote Swiss mountain to catch Olympic-sized action big. Chloe Kim, Mikaela Shiffrin, and Nathan Chen big.
I wrote, directed, and was the creative lead on this primetime broadcast campaign, and we wanted to level up everything.
So this time, we cast professional athletes to act as Grubhub delivery drivers, doing their best to deliver to these Team USA athletes wherever they are – on a mountain, at a skating rink.
We also leveled up the featured food shots, twirling spaghetti or juicing limes over tacos to match the athletic action.
My biggest fear as director was avoiding injuring these Team USA athletes just weeks before the Olympics and letting our whole country down. But when Nathan Chen did a backflip on camera (I didn’t ask!), I knew we had gold.
